Getting a Card
You will need a valid ID as well as proof of your address to get a library card. Stop by the library to fill out an application and pick up your card.
Patrons who are at least 13 years old can begin their library card application online. When you register online, you will receive a temporary barcode number that you can use to request materials and do other operations online. Then come into any library and verify your current address with a picture ID or two other forms of ID to receive your permanent library card. After you have your permanent card, then you can check out items. To begin the online card application visit the My Account link at the top of the page and follow the “click here to register now” link above the barcode/PIN box.
To replace a lost or worn out library card, simply stop by the front desk.
A library card from Manlius Library will work at all other Onondaga County Public Library (OCPL) member libraries.
Most library items like books, DVDs and CDs may be renewed twice unless they are Rapid Reads or Fast Flicks. If an item is requested by another patron, it may not be renewed. You can renew online with your library card and PIN, call us at (315) 682-6400, or stop in the library.
Manlius Library books, audiobooks, and CDs can be checked out for three weeks. Rapid Read books, our bakeware pans, and video games check out for seven days; new release Fast Flick movies check out for three days.
Items can be returned inside the library at the front desk or at our convenient outside book drop behind the library building. Be aware that some items, such as devices, bakeware, and Inter-Library Loan items, must be returned at the front desk and not the book drop.
Most items from any other Onondaga County Public Library (OCPL) member library may be returned at Manlius Library, and most Manlius Library items may be returned at any other OCPL location.
If an item is not available on our shelves, you can place a hold and have the item sent to any OCPL member library. You will be notified by the option set when you created your library account (we offer phone, email, or text). Simply search for a book, audiobook, DVD, etc. then choose Place A Hold from the catalog screen. You can use the search bar on our home page—just make sure “Books & More” is selected. This will take you directly to the Onondaga County Public Library catalog.
If there’s an item you’d like that isn’t in the Onondaga County system, we may consider asking another library to mail it to us. This is called Inter-Library Loan. Read more about Inter-Library Loan here.
Log in to My Account on the OCPL website to pay your fines in your pajamas. Online payments have a $3 minimum. We’ll also be happy to accept cash, checks or credit cards at the front desk. Credit card transactions at Manlius Library have a $5 minimum.
How are fines accumulated? See our updated fine policy here.
