Over 250 years have passed since the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the birth of a new nation: the United States of America. However, the new nation realized quickly that the struggle was not over for women and people of color. Central New York was a hotbed of those struggles.Â
There are many residents of Syracuse’s Oakwood Cemetery who played a role in the quest for those “certain unalienable rights.” The Historic Oakwood Cemetery Preservation Association will talk about some of those participants in the Abolition movement – some well-known and some who have been for too long overlooked.
Walk-ins welcome as space allows.
