Getting a Card

You will need a valid ID as well as proof of your address to get a library card. Stop by the library to fill out an application and pick up your card.

If you are at least 13 years old, you can begin your library card application online. When you register online, you will receive a temporary barcode number that you can use to request materials and access eContent. To receive your permanent library card, visit any branch member of the Onondaga County Public Library system and verify your current address with a picture ID or two other forms of ID. Once you have your permanent card, you can check out items.

If you are under the age of 13 years old, you will need to fill out your application in person at the front desk. A parent or legal guardian must register for a card with a child under 8, and is responsible for any fees incurred on the child’s card.

To replace a lost or worn out library card, simply come into the library and ask for a replacement at the front desk.

A library card from Manlius Library will work at all other Onondaga County Public Library (OCPL) member libraries.

Renewing Items

Most library items like books, DVDs and CDs may be renewed twice unless they are Rapid Reads or Fast Flicks. If an item is requested by another patron, it may not be renewed. You can renew items online with your library card and PIN, call us at (315) 682-6400, stop in to the library, or with the Manlius Library app.

Returning Items

Manlius Library books, audiobooks, and CDs can be checked out for three weeks. Rapid Read books, our bakeware pans, and video games check out for seven days; new release Fast Flick movies check out for three days.

Items can be returned inside the library at the front desk or at our book drop located behind the library building. Be aware that not all items should be returned in our book drop. Devices, bakeware, and Inter-Library Loan items must be returned at the front desk and not the book drop.

Most items from any other Onondaga County Public Library (OCPL) member library may be returned at Manlius Library, and most Manlius Library items may be returned at any other OCPL location.

Requesting Items

If an item is not available on our shelves, you can place a hold and have the item sent to any OCPL member library. You will be notified by the option set when you created your library account (we offer phone, email, or text). Simply search for an item and then choose Place A Hold from the catalog screen. You can use the search bar on our home page to search in our catalog, as long as “Books & More” is selected. This will take you directly to the Onondaga County Public Library catalog. You can also place holds through the Manlius Library app.

If there’s an item you’d like that isn’t in the Onondaga County system, we may consider asking another library to mail it to us. This is called Inter-Library Loan. Read more about Inter-Library Loan here.

Pay Fines

Log in to My Account on the OCPL website to pay your fines from home. Online payments have a $3 minimum. We accept cash, checks or credit cards to pay fines at our front desk. Credit card transactions at Manlius Library have a $5 minimum.

How are fines accumulated? See our current fine policies.
